let's talk about your big but

Photobucket
i waited with much excitement to view this film because:
1)love-love-love me some rachel mcadams
2)love-love-love me some eric bana (hello, TROY-boy!)
3)always had a special fascination with time travel
AND
4)been in the mood for a good old weepy love story lately

here is where i begin my opinion/deep thoughts about the film:
the following commentary may or may not be a a spoiler:READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

...before entering the theater, i watched as many viewers exited a previous showing, most with tear stained cheeks and red puffy eyes. not a good sign but kind of expected (i mean really how can a show about a disappearing spouse leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. and that IS why i was there---been in the mood for one good drag out cry lately.) i must admit i did weep, not at the end, as i expected but tears were shed throughout. the film was good, but i was overall disappointed.

props given:
1)great acting
2)beautifully filmed
3)great costumes!
4)interesting story idea

BUT!
why, why, why does everything have to have a political/social statement behind it? shesh! what happened to good old mindless mushiness? can't a man just die without proving a point? i get it, you have a certain view you think everyone should adopt. but REALLY, enough of the political spoon feedings, if not giant shovel fulls down the throat (twss :)!) i'm not buying it... i'm just here to enjoy the movie...and maybe eat some popcorn...and devour my milk duds...and drink my icee...and...

ANYWHO...
go see the show, it is very heart warming (for the most part) and, if you must, (like i did) give it an alternate ending.----LOVE MACY!
